Dataiku has released results from a new study, highlighting measures that CIOs are considering for AI resilience.
The report, Global AI Confessions Report: CIO Edition, 2026, based on a Harris Poll survey of 685 CIOs around the world, found that organizations are planning or considering changes to their AI model use for resilience reasons.
75% of respondents plan to use more or different models to improve AI continuity and 74% are considering open-source or open-weight models as a hedge against future model unavailability. In addition, 80% have conducted or plan to conduct AI dependency risk assessments.
The guardrails haven’t caught up
The report highlights governance difficulties as a key current issue with agentic AI deployments. Specific areas highlighted include:
- Agent creation: 84% of CIOs agree that employees are creating AI agents and applications faster than IT can govern them.
- Measurement difficulties: only 28% consistently measure both operational performance and business outcomes across all of their AI agents, while 76% say their organization lacks mature, highly capable ROI measurement across all or most AI initiatives.
- Accountability: CIOs give different answers on who is primarily responsible when agents create problems. Shared teams (23%), central IT (21%), the data or AI team (20%), and security, risk, and compliance (18%) are the top choices.
