Resilience First and C2ES publish new framework on corporate climate resilience

January 19, 20261 Min Read
Illustrated sequence of five vertical panels showing stages of climate stress and recovery: a dark storm with heavy rain and lightning; extreme heat and drought with cracked ground; flooding with bent vegetation under persistent rain; a calmer, cloudy landscape with early regrowth; and a bright scene with sunshine, flowers, and healthy plants, symbolising climate impacts, adaptation, and resilience.

Resilience First and the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) have published Building Corporate Climate Resilience, a new report setting out a strategic, standards-aligned framework to help organizations respond to accelerating physical climate risks.

The report draws on six senior-level dialogues held in 2025 with leaders from a number of global organizations across manufacturing, energy, technology, financial services, and other critical sectors. These discussions highlight a growing maturity in climate risk awareness, but also a persistent gap between understanding climate impacts and embedding resilience into decision-making, governance, and investment planning.

Participants identified common barriers, including short-term commercial pressures, fragmented data, and organizational structures ill-suited to managing long-term, systemic threats. However, the report also showcases emerging practice, with leading organizations reframing climate resilience as a driver of value protection, operational continuity, and strategic advantage rather than a compliance or cost issue.

Using Resilience First’s Model for Organisational Resilience, the framework examines climate impacts across five organizational dimensions, from infrastructure and workforce to finance and external ecosystems. The report concludes with practical short-, medium-, and long-term actions, alongside role-specific recommendations, to help organizations build adaptive capacity and strengthen resilience in an increasingly volatile climate context.
