Effective use of surveys is important to many business continuity and risk management processes, in particular surveys are at the heart of the business impact analysis in many organizations.
A new report from SurveyMonkey provides some useful insights into changing trends in survey design and highlights techniques that can help increase response levels.
The ‘State of Surveys 2025’ report is based on insights from an analysis of the 20 million questions answered on the SurveyMonkey platform every day in 2024.
Key findings include:
- People want to take surveys on mobile devices: in 2024 almost six out of ten surveys were taken via mobile devices. This implies that survey design should be mobile-first, with complex questions broken down into bite sized pieces.
- A streamlined survey is more trustworthy and more likely to be answered. The most effective surveys are personalized, efficient, and easy-to-take.
- Generational and cultural differences can impact the survey experience. Younger workers are also more likely to be bored by taking a survey, so short snappy and visually engaging surveys are more likely to generate higher response levels from this group.
