Everbridge report looks at the most significant risks shaping 2026 and presents a five-stage approach to resilience

November 24, 20252 Mins Read
A map of the world overlaid with a bar chart to show the concept of global risks.

Everbridge, Inc., has released the 2026 Global Risk & Resilience Outlook report, looking at the key pressures expected to challenge organizations in the year ahead. Based on global customer research and the 2025 Everbridge Global Risk Survey, the report highlights how risk drivers that once appeared separate now converge, creating more complex and fast-moving operational threats.

According to the report, organizations are entering 2026 with rising exposure across digital, physical, and geopolitical fronts. Cyber threats, climate-related disruptions, supply chain instability, and information threats increasingly overlap, widening the ‘expanding risk zone’ that global enterprises must navigate.

“Disruptions today move fast and often trigger secondary impacts. Resilience is now an enterprise-wide discipline. Organizations that build the muscle to anticipate and adapt will be in the strongest position for 2026. Leaders need clearer visibility and stronger cross-functional coordination to stay ahead.

Dave Wagner, CEO, Everbridge.

The report looks in detail at ten global risks that reflect the increasing interconnectedness of threats across industries and regions. For each it considers the implications for business continuity and resilience. The ten global risks are:

  • Cyberattacks and systemic cyber risk
  • The dual edge of AI
  • Natural disasters and climate‑driven extremes
  • Geopolitical conflict
  • Business interruption from supply‑chain shocks
  • Misinformation and disinformation
  • Regulatory fragmentation, tariffs and trade restrictions
  • Macroeconomic and financial instability
  • Talent shortages and skills mismatch
  • Polycrises: overlapping risks, exponential impact

Persistent gaps in readiness

Survey findings underscore the urgency of modernizing resilience programs:

  • 50% of organizations lack a formal critical event management strategy
  • 24% never test their continuity plans
  • Only 31% feel extremely confident in their ability to manage critical events
  • 61% report no investment in advanced technologies such as AI.

A practical framework for resilience

To help organizations strengthen readiness for 2026, the report outlines a five-stage approach to resilience: Plan, Monitor, Alert, Respond, and Improve. The framework provides a structured way for teams to anticipate threats earlier, coordinate more effectively, and accelerate recovery.
