Australian Cyber Security Centre publishes guidance on ‘modern defensible architecture’

October 30, 20251 Min Read
A framework concept

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has released a new publication series on modern defensible architecture, ‘aimed at providing organizations with a clear pathway for investment and implementation’.

ACSC defines modern defensible architecture as a cybersecurity approach that builds systems to be resilient and secure from the ground up, based on zero-trust principles and secure-by-design practices. It operates on an ‘assume breach’ mindset.

The publication series includes:

Foundations for modern defensible architecture
Initially released in February for consultation, the Foundations document has been updated to provide additional clarity, technical detail, and threat context.

Investing in modern defensible architecture
Supports organizations to develop a modern defensible architecture investment roadmap aligned with their organizational strategy, business and security objectives, risk profile, and threat context.

Modern defensible architecture for senior decision-makers
Helps senior decision-makers understand the contemporary threat landscape and how modern defensible architecture can assist organizations in defending against current and emerging threats.
